DEI Statement and Strategy
At the Trinity Jubilee Center we believe that all people deserve dignity and opportunity. We value diversity and we also understand that differences in race, ethnicity, language, national origin, immigration status, religion, veteran status, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, and ability increase the likelihood that someone will experience hunger and housing insecurity. We strive to create an inclusive workplace that reflects, uplifts, and celebrates the communities we serve.
As a reflection of the Trinity Jubilee Center’s commitment to building an inclusive and equitable organization, we will:
- Seek out team members who personally understand the importance of equity and inclusion in increasing access to safety, services, opportunities, and leadership. Prioritize the hiring of staff members and appointment of board members whose identity and/or lived experience reflects those of the Center’s clientele.
- Listen deeply to the experiences, needs, and hopes of our team members, clients, and neighborhood and take action. Increase understanding of the many communities served by the Center through regular dialogue, solicitation of feedback, and training opportunities. Implement changes intentionally but readily.
- Ensure that the Center’s programs do not perpetuate systemic barriers and inequalities by taking proactive steps to offer equitable access to services. Create multilingual publicity and enrollment materials, offer spoken language interpretation, implement behavioral interventions informed by mental health training, and use clients’ preferred names and pronouns.
- Foster a culture that embraces learning, engages in daily work with pride and passion, and shares responsibility for accountability. Identification of non-inclusive practices and discriminatory behavior is done by all team members, not only those affected. Opportunities to grow, adapt, and improve are continuously pursued and feedback is shared and received thoughtfully and openly.
