Assistant Director, Day Shelter and Resource Center Manager
Job description:
The Trinity Jubilee Center is a multi-service, secular agency located in downtown Lewiston. The Center operates five programs: a soup kitchen, food pantry and diaper bank, day program for the homeless, resource center and free clinic, and immigrant integration program. The Center serves more than 1,000 clients each week. This winter the Center moves into a new facility: be part of this growing team and help expand operations!
This position requires an understanding of and alignment with the Center’s mission and objectives; experience in leadership; and the ability to manage a complex program. We are a busy community center and this is a dynamic, hands-on job. We are looking for someone with strong critical thinking and process design skills with a focus on high-quality service provision, who can roll up their sleeves and pitch in as part of the team!
Responsibilities include the following, divided into two areas:
- Assistant Director: 30% of work time
- Operations manager making sure the space is in good working order.
- On-site supervisor of 6-8 frontline staff members, ensuring work is cohesive across programs, conducting supervision meetings, scheduling trainings, and identifying, designing, and implementing improvements to processes.
- Day Shelter and Resource Center Manager: 70% of work time
- Manage the design, assessment, and ongoing implementation and tracking of shelter guests’ housing plans.
- Oversee daily operations including ensuring consistent enforcement of behavioral expectations and evaluating services in the context of program objectives and capacity.
- Communicate with other organizations to compile, update, and share resource information and make referrals.
- Manage the receipt, organization, and distribution of supplies and client mail.
- Regular engagement with and supervision of shelter guests.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent skills in the areas of: customer service, verbal and written communication, organization and attention to detail, critical thinking and operational analysis, time management, problem-solving, and deescalation and conflict resolution
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate and function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Google Drive and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
Required and Preferred Education and Experience:
- Required education: Bachelor’s degree
- Required experience: 2 years of supervisory experience
- Required experience: 1 year of operations or project management experience
- Required experience: 1 year of experience in social services
Work schedule:
- This is an exempt, full time (40 hour), Monday-Friday position on site in Lewiston. The facility is open 7:30AM – 3:00PM. There may be occasional work on nights and weekends.
Compensation and Benefits:
- This position is salaried at $61,000
- Health insurance is “gold” level and 100% employer-paid
- Paid time off includes two weeks vacation time (accrued), two weeks sick time (accrued), and six paid holidays
